Today we were suppose to go to 野柳地質公園 (Yehliu geopark) however since the weather wasn’t promising we decided to take it easy and spend the afternoon in Taipei at 西門町 (xi men ding). First stop was 龍山寺 (Longshan temple), one of the largest and oldest temples in Taiwan, admission is free and there is always a ton of people coming here to worship. Continue reading

After traveling to Jiu-Fen, my uncles took us to the more scenic and natural beauty of Taiwan. Our first stop was 黃金瀑布 (the golden waterfall), unfortunately there is no gold that flows from the waterfall but due to the abundance of iron it has created the golden color of the rocks. Good thing it was raining because it created some great water for the falls.
菁桐 (jing tong), 十分 (shi fen), 九份 (jiu fen)
Today was my favorite day in Taiwan! We started the day early since we had to drive all the way up north to 菁桐 (Jing Tong). At Jing Tong, my uncles dropped Andrew and I off to take the railcar to 十分 (Shi Fen). It’s only a few stops, but they wanted us to try the old rail car. We had to wait about half an hour for the train, so Andrew and I walked around the area.
