Andrew and I were able to make a last-minute Japan trip this February due to a work offsite he had in Taiwan. I decided to tag along and hang out in taiwan for a few days, then head off to Osaka and Kyoto. We wanted our first Japan trip to be more historic and decided that with only a few days in Japan, Toyko would have to wait. We arrived into KIX airport at around 6pm on a Friday night and took the rail from the airport to our hotel (Mitsui Garden Hotel). Our hotel was super cute and had a great view of the water.
We headed down to LA this past weekend for our friends 5 year anniversary celebration on Sunday night in Disneyland(post to come!). We decided to take a few extra days to explore LA a bit and visit some family and friends. Continue reading
Andrew and I are trying to make it a tradition that for our birthdays we do a getaway with friends. So for Andrew’s birthday weekend, we decided to celebrate in the beautiful Santa Barbara. I have never been to Santa Barbara, but for those who know me, I am obsessed with the beach and wish that I lived by the ocean (one day it will happen)!
This past Sunday we headed to Napa to celebrate the birthdays of our good friends Pete and Justina. Our first stop was Ox Bow Market – I have heard wonderful things about the market, it was a lot smaller than I imagined. we strolled around picked up some breakfast tacos, coffee, and wandered the local shops. Since Andrew had a few days off from work, we decided to take off a couple days and head up to Yosemite National Park. I have not been here since an elementary school trip and I was excited to check out some amazing views. The photos below are taken by my amazing husband, so please enjoy!
Today we were suppose to go to 野柳地質公園 (Yehliu geopark) however since the weather wasn’t promising we decided to take it easy and spend the afternoon in Taipei at 西門町 (xi men ding). First stop was 龍山寺 (Longshan temple), one of the largest and oldest temples in Taiwan, admission is free and there is always a ton of people coming here to worship. Continue reading
After traveling to Jiu-Fen, my uncles took us to the more scenic and natural beauty of Taiwan. Our first stop was 黃金瀑布 (the golden waterfall), unfortunately there is no gold that flows from the waterfall but due to the abundance of iron it has created the golden color of the rocks. Good thing it was raining because it created some great water for the falls.
Today was my favorite day in Taiwan! We started the day early since we had to drive all the way up north to 菁桐 (Jing Tong). At Jing Tong, my uncles dropped Andrew and I off to take the railcar to 十分 (Shi Fen). It’s only a few stops, but they wanted us to try the old rail car. We had to wait about half an hour for the train, so Andrew and I walked around the area.
On our first day in taiwan I was up every hour after 4am, finally at around 6am I decided to get up. Since we were heading to Taipei that day, we decided to get breakfast at around 7:30am. We walked a block to a local breakfast place and ordered a traditional Taiwanese breakfast (my favorite). This place wasn’t the best I have had but it’s so close to the house that it will suffice for now… Continue reading
