2015 in Review

Another year gone, another adventure awaits!  Looking back at my blog, I realized I did not post as much as I would have liked to.  It has been quite a crazy but exciting year for us!

We started off our year by going to Oahu in February!  It was a great way to start the new year as Hawaii is one our favorite places to go. We did a bunch of hikes and ate a ton of food!

In March our friends Kendric and JJ invited us to go to Tahoe with them and stay in their uncle’s timeshare.  Although there was no snow we still took the gondola up for lunch and it was a very relaxing weekend with lots of basketball, pool, and hot tubbing.

May brought lots of fun surprises! Andrew planned a day in Santa Cruz with our friends for my birthday.  We hung out at the boardwalk for the whole day riding rides and playing the arcade. We headed back to the bay to met up more friends for dinner in Palo Alto.  On my actual birthday Andrew took me to The Sea by Alexander’s which was fantastic!

A while back we planned a Vancouver trip with a few friends for the second week of May.  We flew there and took a 2 day cruise back to SF. Vancouver was fun, lots of eating and walking around.  The place is super clean and everyone was very friendly.

After the trip was when life got crazy…

During the beginning of the year, Andrew and I talked about selling his townhouse since we had wanted to get a single family home (if you know me, I check Redfin on the daily). All of it came together in Mid-May and we said “good-bye” to the first place we lived together and Andrew’s first home.

We packed up our stuff, crashed a some relatives and friends during open house, and finally moved back to my place in Santa Clara.  During this time we replaced carpet, refinished the cabinets, and got all the tile and grout cleaned and bleached!  While all of this, we continued to drive up and down the Peninsula looking at homes, we finally decided that we needed a break and put one last offer in.

On our way out the house on a Sunday morning in June we get a call from our agent saying ” the house is yours!”.  Shocked and surprised we started preparing for our next move and finding a new tenant.

We officially moved in end of July and knowing me, I wanted to immediately get started on the kitchen remodel.  Although move in ready, the home needed some renovations as I wanted a more open concept living space and a new kitchen! We spent the next couple weeks working on the design, interviewing contractors, and picking out what we wanted.

In September we took a small break to go to Montery and Big Sur with Andrew’s Parents.  That same month we did a trip down to LA where we finally got to play tourists before attending our friends 5 year anniversary celebration at Disneyland.

We spend the next two months slowly watching our renovation come through and spent thanksgiving with my parents in Sacramento, since our Kitchen would not be ready.

imageimageDecember was a nice little time off for us as we had our yearly “national park” trip.  We headed to Joshua Tree this year and decided to also spend a few days in Palm Springs.

We ended the year hanging out at home getting our new house ready as we hosted family during the christmas break, met up with some old friends and had our first NYE party at the house!

Cheers to a fun filled 2016 and furnishing the house!
